A Synchronous Memoir of Addiction and Recovery

This story is intended to take its reader on a journey that starts with the somewhat privileged childhood of an upper middle class boy and transitions into a profound story of substance abuse and addiction. This narrative illustrates the overwhelming compulsion of substance abuse and allows the reader to travel through a multitude of societal horrors including gangs, prostitution, homelessness, and incarceration. As the reader begins to feel there is no hope, the resiliency of the human spirit shines through on the road to recovery. The theme of this book revolves around the synchronicities that occurred throughout my journey and ultimately brought me to a career of service.

Those who are in recovery or are currently struggling with addiction will be able to connect with A Synchronous Memoir of Addiction and Recovery through their own personal experiences. Family members of those struggling with addiction may gain some insight into addiction and also gain some hope as they witness the transformation that is possible for anyone. Clinicians and counselors can utilize these stories to add to their understanding of addiction and build on their repertoire of supportive interventions.

I received your book in the mail earlier today, started reading it and couldn't put it down. I just devoured it in one sitting, shed a few tears, had some "aha" moments, and felt your amazing spirit shine through triumphantly.

Thank you for sharing such intimate details of your life through such a well written piece of work. You should be so proud of your remarkable accomplishments.

BEST to you always,

Aaron-Your book is amazing. It brought up so many emotions. I cried within the first 10 pages. I love knowing peoples stories, because everyone has a story. Thank you so much for sharing your story with the world. It couldn't have been easy at times, but I am so thankful you did it.

I think this book will touch so many lives. People who have been through similar experiences, parents of someone like you, siblings of someone like you, friends of someone like you, etc...

I honestly don't have the words to thank you for writing this book. I am so sorry about your father and your marriage, but I know these kind of trials in life help us to be stronger.
I already looked up to you, but this made it so much more. You are one in so many who make it out of addiction and one that has decided to pay it forward.

I also love working as a substance abuse counselor. It can be very emotionally and physically draining, but also very rewarding.

I was engaged from the moment that I read the first page and couldn't put it down until the book was finshed. I recommend this book to anyone who has, or is struggling with addiction. Furthermore I recommend it to anyone who knows anyone currently struggling with addiction or those that are simply interested in the topic. This book demonstrates how great of a hold a addiction can have on a person, but it also shows how a person can overcome addiction which provides great hope.

Just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed your book very much. It's a powerful story, and I like the concept of synchronous events... as in there is no such thing as coincidence
Nice work, and I'm looking forward to your next book.

Its so heavy. Dark. The intensity and desperation was hard to injest at times.

Hi Aaron, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your book. I haven't been able to pick up a book in years and enjoy it like I did yours and I couldn't even put it down for that matter. Anyway your story is amazing! I related to your story in so many ways being in recovery myself. Seeing where you were, have been and the great accomplishments that you have acheived has not only shown me it does happen as long as you work hard and put your mind to it but I look up to you and have much respect for what you do.
